How PrintRun Forecasts Print Runs

A transparent overview of how PrintRun creates independent, timestamped Topps NOW print-run estimates without access to Topps sales data.

Pre-closeevery recorded forecast is timestamped before the result

PrintRun estimates Topps NOW print runs before limited buying windows close. The forecasts are independent model outputs, not leaked sales totals, private order data, or official guidance from Topps.

This guide explains the categories of evidence used, how forecasts are recorded, and how results are evaluated. It intentionally does not publish the exact signals, formulas, coefficients, routing rules, or calibration thresholds that make up the forecasting engine.

PrintRun records independent predictions before close

PrintRun develops independent models from months of tracking Topps NOW releases and official outcomes. The objective is to estimate the likely final print run while the order decision is still open.

The forecasting methods are proprietary. Public records focus on what each model predicted, when the prediction was recorded, and how it compared with the official result.

  • Predictions recorded before the buying window closes
  • Stable public model names
  • Official print runs recorded after publication
  • Model-by-model accuracy bands and sample sizes
  • A permanent card record linking predictions with outcomes

Multiple models examine different parts of the problem

No single model is expected to understand every type of release. Their disagreement is useful because it exposes uncertainty rather than hiding it behind one number.

One rotating live card shows the complete model comparison for free. Members can inspect exact model outputs for every supported live card. Other live cards do not expose prediction numbers publicly.

PrintRun evaluates and improves models after official results are known. It does not tune a model to force a preferred answer during an active read.

Forecasts are timestamped before the answer exists

A forecast is only meaningful if it can be verified as pre-close. PrintRun records model outputs while the Topps buying window is still open, preserving the estimate that existed before the official print run was available.

After Topps publishes the final print run, PrintRun compares the official result with the selected final pre-close operational forecast. Cards without a recorded operational selection are excluded instead of scored using whichever model looks best afterward.

What PrintRun does not have

PrintRun has no access to Topps internal sales systems, live order totals, customer records, confidential production data, or unreleased official print runs. The forecasts are mathematical estimates derived independently from public evidence and PrintRun's own historical analysis.

Accuracy does not imply inside access. A model can approach a hidden outcome by identifying relationships in observable data, just as forecasts are created in sports, finance, weather, and other uncertain markets.

Why the full recipe is not public

Transparency should make a forecast understandable and auditable without making the forecasting system freely reproducible. PrintRun therefore explains the evidence categories, timestamping process, evaluation method, limitations, and independence from Topps.

Exact signals, collection timing, formulas, weights, routing logic, comparable-selection rules, thresholds, and transformations remain proprietary. Those details represent the research and operating knowledge behind the product.

How to interpret a PrintRun forecast

A prediction is a decision aid, not a claim of certainty. Compare the available models, their track records, and the order scenarios they imply before deciding how much weight to give any estimate.

  • Multiple models make disagreement visible.
  • Model disagreement is information, not automatically an error.
  • Official results can differ materially from every prediction.
  • Forecasts do not guarantee hits, scarcity, resale value, or investment returns.

Frequently asked questions.

Does PrintRun have access to Topps sales data?

No. PrintRun has no access to Topps internal sales, order, customer, or production systems. Forecasts are independent estimates built from public evidence and historical analysis.

Are PrintRun forecasts official Topps print runs?

No. They are independent forecasts created before Topps publishes the official final print run.

Why does PrintRun use multiple models?

Different models examine different evidence and market behaviors. Their combined range helps communicate uncertainty and reduces dependence on one forecasting assumption.
