State of Topps NOW: August 2026

August produced 174 unique Topps NOW releases and 577,588 reported units. Compare July, explore the distribution, and download the complete release data.

577,588reported units across 174 unique August releases

August produced fewer reported units than July, but the typical release was larger. PrintRun recorded 174 unique releases whose buying windows closed during August, representing 577,588 reported units across baseball, football, soccer, wrestling, racing, tennis, basketball, and other programs.

The median release finished at 1,392, up 28.9% from July. The apparent contradiction is the story: July's aggregate was dominated by two enormous releases, while August shifted more of its distribution into the 1,000 to 4,999 range.

What changed since July?

August had four fewer unique releases and 27.3% less reported volume than July, but its median print run increased 28.9%. July's total was inflated by two exceptional releases: LeBron James at 211,627 and Shohei Ohtani at 160,573.

Remove each month's two largest releases and the direction reverses. August produced 497,882 reported units across the remaining cohort, compared with 422,443 in July. The typical August release was stronger even though the raw monthly total was lower.

The distribution moved toward the middle

August produced fewer sub-1,000 releases and many more results between 1,000 and 4,999. That shift explains why the median increased even though July retained the larger aggregate total.

One listing was a set, not one card

The August cohort contains 173 individual-card releases totaling 574,911 reported copies. It also contains the 2026 MLS All-Star Game 11-card set, reported at 2,677 sets.

The combined headline is therefore 174 unique release listings and 577,588 reported units. The set quantity is not described as 2,677 individual cards, and it should not be used as an ordinary single-card comparison.

The low end remained very low

Alhassan Yusuf MLS Card 65 finished at 181, the smallest verified August result in the current archive. Several soccer releases remained below 500 while the monthly median stayed above 1,300.

A small print run establishes supply, not value. Subject demand, program, card identity, condition, resale liquidity, and the actual numbered-card offering still matter. The useful comparison is the release's percentile within its own program, not merely whether the raw number looks low.

Selected close prediction calls

The current public snapshot contains recorded model panels for 156 August releases. The examples below are selected closest-of-field calls, not a claim about typical individual-model performance.

Card numbers, public model names, timestamps, and direct result links are included so similarly named releases cannot be mistaken for conflicting figures.

Each example uses the closest recorded prediction among the model outputs available for that release.

What this means for buyers

The largest releases are useful records, but they do not represent the typical Topps NOW card. August's median was 1,392 even though five releases finished above 27,000.

Sport, program, player, event, buying window, and chase structure all change the relevant baseline. A 1,300 result can be ordinary in one program and exceptional in another.

A low print run also does not automatically create an attractive chase. Buyers still need the release's actual numbered-card supply and allocation terms before estimating hit exposure.

How this report was measured

The cohort includes unique Topps product listings with an official result and a recorded buying-window close date in July or August 2026. Exact duplicate product URLs are counted once. Unresolved releases are excluded.

Totals use the official reported quantity in the PrintRun public snapshot generated September 16, 2026 at 17:45 UTC. Set listings are labeled separately. Quartiles use the inclusive distribution of the release-level results. This article remains a dated snapshot rather than silently changing when later corrections arrive.
